Who We Are

Our Team

At MGM, our team is more than staff and volunteers—we are a community of individuals united by a shared commitment to serving refugees and immigrants. Many of us have walked the refugee journey ourselves, bringing firsthand understanding and cultural competence to our work. Our diverse team reflects the communities we serve, combining professional expertise with lived experience to create programs that truly meet the needs of Swahili-speaking refugees and immigrants.

Founder of MGM

Pastor Prince Mundeke - Founder & Office Director

Prince Mushunju is the Founder and Office Director of Mundeke Gospel Mission (MGM). Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Prince lived as a refugee in Uganda before resettling in the United States. His personal journey of displacement, resilience, and rebuilding inspires the heart of MGM’s mission today.

With lived experience as a refugee, Prince brings unique insight into the challenges facing immigrant and refugee families — from navigating new systems to overcoming trauma and finding belonging. His leadership is rooted in compassion, faith, and a deep commitment to empowering the Swahili-speaking community in Greensboro and beyond.

Under his direction, MGM has launched programs in mental health support, ESL, employment pathways, healthcare navigation, and youth engagement. Prince has also championed cultural initiatives such as Swahili Day Celebration and the translation of the North Carolina DMV manual into Swahili — practical solutions that address real community needs.

Prince’s vision is to build a safe, united, and spiritually grounded community where every refugee and immigrant can thrive with dignity.

Founder of MGM
